Rest in Paradise, Jonas Bevacqua of LRG Clothing

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011

Today mark one of the saddest day in fashion history. Jonas Bevacqua founder of L-R-G has died. Karmaloop tweeted this morning: “Our thoughts & prayers go out to the loved ones of Jonas, co-founder of LRG. We’re deeply saddened by this news. Rest in Peace.

There is little information to report on the cause of this fashion icon’s death, but a confirmation was made this afternoon via Twitter from online clothing store, Karmaloop, a carrier of LRG.

Jonas Bevacqua started L-R-G in 1999, alongside partner Robert Wright. By the mid-2000s, Entrepreneur Magazine named the company one of the Hot 500 list of fastest-growing companies and reported its 2006 sales figures at an estimated $150 million.

In an interview with HypeBeast at the beginning of May, Bevacqua described LRG as an independent, family-operation, apparel company with multicultural roots, delighting in the collaborations between their extended family of professional athletes, artists, and musicians.

Many consider the brand one of the original pioneers of the streetwear, lifestyle brands of today.

Rest in peace, definitely gone too soon.
