Oskar Wennberg x Madison x KNOXX Lifestyle

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

My man Ante from Swedun Distribution in Stockholm asked me to design a deck for their pro rider Oskar. The concept behind the graphic was to bridge the gap from San Francisco to Stockholm or Stockholm to Frisco. I used the Stockholm skyline and the Frisco skyline as the texture inside Oskar’s name with the “K” acting as the bridge to the two cities. It was perfect how it all worked out cause I didn’t know he had a “K” in his name. I’m used to seeing Oscar with a “C” instead of a “K”… I also used the transit system from Stockholm & Frisco as a background element throughout the whole deck. So here’s a little somethin’ for the streets.

Anthony "Rumble" Johnson tries Chinese Dim Sum (Chinese Brunch) for the first time

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

Anthony “Rumble” Johnson loves food like pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers and fried chicken but he’s recently been exploring other foods from other cultures. We took Anthony to Dim Sum (Chinese Brunch) today and it was quite an interesting experience. I think it was a little too exotic for him but he was a great sport!! The only thing he really liked was the pork buns.

He picked up this dish that was marinated chicken feet but he looked at it for a good long while and then decided he just couldnt eat it….LOL

UFC Fight Night 21: Paul Buentello vs Cheick Kongo on tap for March 21

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

A heavyweight bout that could have the octagon rocking is set now that strikers Cheick Kongo (14-6-1 MMA, 7-4 UFC) and Paul Buentello (27-11 MMA, 3-2 UFC) are signed to meet at UFC on Versus 1.

The Versus-televised event is set for March 21 at The Odeum Colorado in Broomfield (near Denver) with a headliner of Jon Jones vs. Brandon Vera.

Kongo and Buentello are part of the night’s televised main card.

Buentello, who recently returned to the UFC after a run with rival Strikeforce and Affliction Entertainment, dropped a majority decision to Stefan Struve in December. The closely contested UFC 107 loss snapped the fighter’s two-fight win streak, and it was just his second loss in his past eight fights.

Buentello, in fact, is 12-3 since August 2001, and the lone losses came to then-champ Andrei Arlovski, Alistair Overeem (for the vacant Strikeforce heavyweight belt) and Struve.

The former top UFC heavyweight contender now meets Kongo, who was on the verge of a UFC title shot (after three TKO wins over Dan Evensen, Mostapha Al Turk and Antoni Hardonk) before his recent back-to-back losses to Cain Velasquez and Frank Mir. A noted French srtiker, Kongo again was penalized for a lacking ground game when he suffered the submission loss to Mir at UFC 107. Kongo refused to tap and went out cold before the referee halted the bout.

The latest UFC on Versus 1 card now includes:

MAIN CARD

* Jon Jones vs. Brandon Vera
* Junior Dos Santos vs. Gabriel Gonzaga
* Paul Buentello vs. Cheick Kongo
* John Howard vs. Anthony Johnson
* Shannon Gugerty vs. Clay Guida*

PRELIMINARY CARD

* Eliot Marshall vs. Vladimir Matyushenko
* Spencer Fisher vs. Duane “Bang” Ludwig
* James Irvin vs. Alessio Sakara*
* Chase Gormley vs. Brendan Schaub*

UFC Fight Night 21: Anthony Johnson vs John Howard on tap for March 21

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

Time to put up or shut up.

UFC welterweight prospects Anthony Johnson (8-3) and John Howard (13-4) have agreed to settle their longstanding feud at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 21 event scheduled for March 21 in Denver, Colorado.

They were originally set to do battle at last June’s Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale; however, Howard withdrew from the bout under his manager’s direction, prompting a slew of unflattering remarks from Johnson.

Here’s how it all went down, according to “Doomsday:”

“I don’t appreciate him calling me a coward or anything like that. He has to understand that the decisions that are made for me are smart decisions. My job is to fight. I don’t make decisions about who to fight or when I’m going to fight, and I don’t pull out of fights … Anthony Johnson has been in the UFC a little longer than me, and it’s not because I’m a coward (that the fight was nixed); it just wasn’t time…. I want to fight him, and the first chance I get the OK to fight him, I will. And he’s going to eat his words, definitely. It’s personal. He’s going to regret ever questioning me.”

Howard was instead paired up with Tamdan McCrory at UFC 101 in Philadelphia back on August 8, squeaking past “The Barn Cat” via split decision.

The win was good enough to earn him a crack at Dennis Hallman at UFC 106 on Nov. 21. Dooms came from behind to stop “Superman” with just seconds remaining in their clash.

Now it appears that Howard is ready to test himself against Johnson — who may be looking to punish someone after his last Octagon appearance.

“Rumble” was choked out by Josh Koscheck — also at UFC 106 — to snap a three fight winning streak. Unfortunately the contest was not without controversy.

The fight was littered with bizarre stoppages and frequent mishaps including eye pokes from both sides and a controversial knee while “Kos” was grounded. Johnson contends his errant knee never made head contact and that his loss can be attributed to the aforementioned eye mashing.

Whatever the case, he is on a mission to get back into the 170-pound title hunt and John Howard stands in his way.
